Real estate has forever been one of the most lucrative fields to be employed in, it doesn’t matter what type of economic situation we find ourselves. Real estate is essential to every person in the world and will continue to reap huge rewards for realtors nationwide! The only thing standing between you and the real estate market is a Real Estate License. You are required by law to have a license to sell real estate throughout the United States. Each state has different governing laws and requirements necessary to get a real estate license but the all incorporate two major steps:

1) In Class Hours
2) Passing an exam
Each state has different rules and regulations concerning the “in class hours” portion of you licensing. Some require you to physically be present in the class rooms, some may still have online or at home programs. It is becoming increasingly less likely that you will find state supported programs that don’t require physical attendance. The amount of time spent in class will also vary from state to state. Some require as few as 40 hours of class time while some states such as Texas will have your butt in a chair for near 180. Expect the norm to be between 40-60 hours. You usually can do this in a week or it can be broken down into evenings and weekends for those of you that can’t set aside an entire work week. The classes are the easy part in this process…all you need to do is show up and soak in the material as best that you can!
The step that trips up more folk than it should is the exam portion of the licensing process. All states will require you to sit for an exam after completing you in class requirements. The exams will cover basics, laws, ethics and various other topics varying from state to state. It is suggested that you follow your classroom hours with another week of studying the course material and taking as many practice exams as you can find. The best method of study is to take tests that use the same questions as your state exam uses. There are several study programs available that will almost guarantee your success if you follow their direction. It is well worth your time and money to pass the first time and not have to pay to take it again!
Getting your real estate license can be the best career move you have ever made and will be a lot of fun. Get started on the right foot with getting your license, it doesn’t need to be a difficult process. Get your classes done as quickly as possible and find a study program to help with preparing you for your exam. The best courses provide you with practice tests that are filled with questions from your states actual exam! To get started, contact your city or counties Board of Realtors to find the nearest authorized real estate class provider….and get some practice exams under your belt!!!
